Ways to Donate to PINNT

A support group for patients receiving  parenteral or enteral nutrition therapy

PINNT is a registered charity  which serves to support both adults and children who  require nutrition therapy, to provide understanding  and contact between patients and to eliminate some of  the problems which come with treatment. There are a  number of different ways that members, their families,  other individuals and companies can donate much needed  resources to PINNT. This leaflet highlights the various  options available to donors. They include:-

Ways to Give

Cash / Cheques and Postal Orders

Traditionally cash, cheques and postal orders have been the simplest and quickest way to donate, and for many people this remains the case.

Obviously great care should always be taken when sending cash through the post.

Donations of this sort can be sent to any of our committee members or preferably directly to the Treasurer:

Treasurer, PINNT, 61 Framfield Road, Uckfield, East Sussex TN22 5AJ

Committee members and region al co-ordinators can also accept donations, at any of our regional or national meetings. All cheques and pos tal orders should be made payable to PINNT and if you wo uld like a receipt please just ask.

Give As You Earn

The Charities Aid Foundation runs one of the most successful schemes. CAF has four ways to give, so no matter what your preferences are, one will suit you.

  • Direct Donation as an individual – tax free straight from your gross pay.
  • Staff Charity Fund – club together with colleagues and set up a joint fund.
  • CAF Charitable Trust – if you want to set aside sizeable sums for giving to individual or various charities.
  • Charity Card Account – pay a minimum of £10 from your gross pay each month into your own charity account. A cheque book and charity card allows you to make tax free donations whenever you wish.

All of the schemes do have sma ll administration charges and yearly allowances.

Matched Giving

Matched giving works in t he same way as above, but additionally the employer guarant ees to match any donation made by an employee, theref ore doubling the donation received by the charity. You r employer will decide if they wish to participate, but t hese schemes are normally only run by very large companies wishing to make corporate donations as a matter of policy.

Time

As always the most valuable, if not most priceless donation you could make, is your time. We are continuously looking for volunteers to donate their time and effort in whatever way they can manage.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is administered by the Inland Revenue and provides PINNT with a means to re-claim back a proportion of the tax paid by an individual on their net salary.

At current income tax levels this would allow PINNT to reclaim 28p for every £1 donated.

In order for PINNT to re-claim this tax, individual donors must sign a gift aid declaration authorising PINNT to do so and be at least a basic rate tax payer.

Declarations can be made on single one off donations or can be set up to cover all future donations, until further notice. Gift Aid applies to any size of donation, large or small and most importantly on membership subscriptions as well.

On a regular basis PINNT would complete the relevant Inland Revenue forms, and subsequently receive the reclaimed tax within 10 working days.

Obviously this would not apply to any donations made through payroll giving or matched giving (as described later), as these are made before tax.

Please send you completed G ift Aid Declaration forms to the Treasurer, at the add ress already given on the inside front cover.

Payroll Giving

These donations are deducted from individuals gross pay before tax, by their employers own payroll department.

The company then passes the money to their own chosen Payroll Giving Agency, who send the donations to your nominated charity. Check with your employer to see if they are already or would be willing to register with an payroll giving agency.

These agencies deduct a smal l administration fee from each donation, unless an employer pays this on the donor’s behalf. This charge is normal ly no more than 4% of the donation or 25p per payrol l deduction, whichever is grea. On the positive side the Government will “top up” every Payroll Gi ving donation by an extra 10% until April 2003. Do n’t forget you would also pay less income tax.

Standing Orders

Standing orders are very quick and simple to set up. Whether they are for single one off donations or regular monthly, quarterly or yearly donations.

With the increased access to the internet and telephone banking, standing order instructions can be placed with your bank from the comfort of your own home.

However this leaflet does include a tear off standing order form. Just complete the form with your own bank details, the amount, and the frequency of your donation.

Then most importantly sign and date it.

Alternatively, just call into any branch of your own bank and request a standing order mandate. Complete the mandate with PINNT’s account details, which are shown below. (PINNT is sufficient for the name of our bank account).

PINNT’s current account details are:-
Account Name:

P.I.N.N.T.

Bank: Nat West Plc
Account Number: 94946213
Sort Code: 52 – 21 – 00

PINNT has made enquiries about setting up a direct debit system, but unfortunately our overall income and the potential level of direct debit transactions do not meet the minimum requirements of the High Street Banks.

Additionally, direct debit facilities are not provided free, attracting an administration charge for every instruction and transaction.
